Baroque and Beyond combine enthusiasm for music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries with a nod to the folk roots of art music from this period. A range of historical instruments – harpsichord, recorders, baroque cello and guitar – are used to explore a variety of themed programmes. These have included the Scottish and Welsh folk song arrangements of Haydn, instrumental music from the early Italian baroque, and the resurrection of previously forgotten material by Pierre de Lagarde, music master to the children of Louis XV of France. Baroque and Beyond have performed with the sopranos Hayley Renee Guest (recordings below) and Amelia Jones.
Dance Suite (Rondeau) – Johann Christoph Schultze (1582-1653)
Young maids complaining – Henry Purcell (c. 1659-1695)
Suite No 9 in D minor (Sarabande) – Robert De Visée (c. 1655-1732/1733)
De amore en las prisiones – Fernando Sor (1778-1839)
