Baroque and Beyond

Carol Attwood – recorders
John Davenport – keyboard
Tim Senior – cello
Steve Walter – guitar

Baroque and Beyond combine enthusiasm for music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries with an aliveness to the folk roots of art music from this period. A range of historical instruments – harpsichord, guitars, recorders and baroque cello – are used to explore a variety of themed programmes. Recent explorations have included the Scottish and Welsh folk song arrangements of Haydn, instrumental music from the early Italian baroque, and the resurrection of a previously forgotten trio sonata by the Neapolitan composer Nicola Matteis. Baroque and Beyond regularly perform with the soprano Hayley Guest.
